Glen MacArthur has used Remastersys to produce an image-based distribution. He keeps it up with very current kernels (right now 2.6.30.1), the stock is low-latency, optional is realtime; on at least some hardware, Jack runs on this non-realtime kernel in realtime mode at lower latency than the provided 2.6.29 realtime kernel. Hardware and app support is very good, including development libraries. 32-bit version only so far.
