Linux Multimedia Distributions

• AVLinux A customized Debian-based multimedia focused distro uniquely featuring the best of both Open Source and Commercial Demo software.
• Tango Studio A complete distribution based on Ubuntu 10.04.3, for musicians and professionals studios
• APODIO is an “…audio computer on a live CD bootable distribution”
• Dynebolic a GNULinux distribution “… shaped on the needs of media activists, artists and teachers”
• m-dist a SlackWare-based “live” Linux system specially tuned for MIDI and audio use *OUTDATED*
• Musix GNU+Linux a “live” music and sound distro from Marcos Guglielmetti and friends
• pure:dyne GNULinux live CD - great for live performances, installations and newbies
• Thac's RPMs For Mandrake includes a large collection of Linux music and sound packages *OUTDATED*

• Studio 13.37 Pro audio studio on a USB stick based on Slacko, a tiny RAM-based OS built from Slackware 13.37.
• Indamixx Transmission OS 4.5 Commercial audio distribution based on Meego, various versions available.

These are not independent distributions like the above; they are add-ons to general-purpose distros. Probably not recommended for the very newbie, but once you know the basics and if you like to roll your own production environments, these can be extremely helpful.
